The exercise here was to focus on a rectangular object. I managed to find two that overlapped.

Here I was drawing from a photograph (that someone else took; I never saw the scene in person).

This is good practice. If anything, though, you're focusing a lot on edges and making them very prominent. Real objects don't all have outlines; you just see them as patterns of light and dark.
