12x optical zoom means you can actually get shots like this one, without being an animal trainer.

Aye. That's one of the things I miss about going digital, actually: the money I had invested in good lenses. I'm looking at my cheapie digital camera, wondering how it came to this.
If you learn how to walk, by the way, you can get much, much closer than that.
